Alchemist (ALCHEMIST) has varied business interests including steel, floriculture, healthcare, information technology, food processing and international business. It was established in 1981.
The company manufactures more than 100 grades of welded mire mesh at its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant located in Kurali, Punjab with a capacity of 4,000 MTPA. The floriculture division in Rajgarh, Himachal Pradesh has a green house capacity of 45,000 sq. m., which the company plans to extend to 55,000 sq. m. The food processing segment comprises of chicken and table egg products. The processing facility located in Banmajra, Punjab has a frozen storage capacity of more than 500 tons with Big Dutchman and Meyn as technology partners.
The information technology segment is engaged in designing e-business, web hosting, web support for clients, building business-to-business and business-to-consumer models, inventory management, payroll management and application outsourcing. Having strategic alliances with MIVA and GoeMerchant, the company caters to major sectors including financial services, manufacturing, consumer products, life sciences, local and central government, healthcare, media and entertainment.
In healthcare, the company acquired a majority stake in Panchkula`s Kaiser Hospital in 2007, which is accredited by the Joint Commission International, USA. It has taken over the management of a 500-bed medical college hospital in Gujarat. A state-of-the-art sophisticated synthetic chemistry research facility for analysis of active pharmaceutical Ingredients and their structures has been planned. The international business segment comprises a range of agricultural products, minerals and metals, machinery and equipments, woods, art and handicrafts, plastics, leather and textile products,. It exports welded wire mesh to the US and Middle East countries.
The registered office is located at Dappar village, Ambala-Chandigarh Highway, Patiala district, Punjab.
Financials
The company reported fall of 44.55% in standalone net profit on y-o-y basis to Rs 25.84 million, while total income dropped 3.98% y-o-y basis to Rs 1.06 billion for the quarter ended March 2011.
