Birla Power Solutions (BIRLAPOWER) is primarily engaged in manufacturing of a wide range of generators. Incorporated on Apr. 27, 1984, it got its present name Dec. 3, 2003. The company is part of the Yash Birla group, which has diversified interest in industries like steel pipes, machine tools, cutting tools, iron castings, tool holders, power solution products, multipurpose engines pumps, textiles, carpets, furnishing, electrical appliances, lifestyle, infotech, publication, travel, electricity, cotton ginning, property development, and other areas. The major companies in the group include Zenith Birla (India), Birla Cotsyn (India), Dagger Forst Tools, Birla Precision Technologies, Birla Transasia Carpets, Birla Perucchini, Birla Lifestyle, Birla Electricals, Birla Concepts (India), and Shloka Infotech.
The ISO 9002 and ISO14001 certified Company produces portable gensets, multi purpose engines, pump sets, sprayers, inverters and wind energy. In addition to this, it trades in imported gensets and electrical items. The generators are fuelled by a variety of fuel options like kerosene, petrol, diesel, LPG, CNG, and biogas. It provides total power solutions depending upon customer needs. The recently launched power tiller under the brand name Birla Harit used a diesel engine of 11.5 HP manufactured by Yanmar, the global leader of engine manufacturing, with their latest technology. In FY07, two other products have been launched in the portable genset segment with a capacity of 900 VA and 5 KVA.
The modern manufacturing unit is established near Dehradun in Uttarnachal with a capacity of 125,000 smaller gensets, 75,000 multi-purpose engines and 20,000 units per annum higher KVA gensets. The company has a distribution network of around 850 dealers across the country catering to clients like Reliance, Swaraj Mazda, Punjab National Bank and M.P. Police Bhopal among others. Products are exported to various countries in the Africa, the Middle East and the Far East.
