Oudh Sugar Mills (OUDH), part of the K.K. Birla group, is engaged in producing sugar and its byproducts, canned fruits and vegetables, organic fertilizer, industrial alcohol and ethanol. It was incorporated on July 26, 1932.
The company has its plants located at Hargaon and Rosa in Uttar Pradesh and Narkatiaganj in Bihar. In FY07, it completed the second phase of expansion of the sugar factory in Hargaon from 7,500 TCD to 10,000 TCD with a co-generation plant of 8 MW at a cost of about of Rs.1,160 million. The Narkatiaganj factory`s sugar capacity was increased from 6,500 TCD to 7,500 TCD along with a co-generation plant of 5 MW at an estimated cost of Rs 370 million. The capacity enhancement of the Hargaon distillery to 100 KLPD at an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 million is progressing as per schedule. The capacity of Narkatiaganj distillery is being increased from 30 KLPD to 60 KLPD. The company has planned to set up a greenfield project at Hata in Uttar Pradesh at an approximate cost of Rs.3,360 million having a crushing capacity of 7,000 TCD with a sugar refinery and a co-generation plant with a capacity of 35 MW, which is progressing satisfactorily. It has a canning factory in the Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
In FY07, the company supplied 25 million units and 1.26 million units of power from its plants in Hargaon and Narkatiaganj respectively making a profit of Rs 61.28 million on the sale of power. Its financial performance during the year was affected due to low demand for sugar bringing sale prices down and also higher cost of purchased sugarcane.
