Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision (SHREEASHT) is a film production and distribution company in India. It was incorporated as a private limited company on Oct. 23, 2001 and was converted into a public limited company on Jun. 25, 2004.
The company operates through its three divisions of film production, distribution and exhibition. It produces mainstream Hindi cinema for global audiences. The company has built capabilities for cost effective film production, including excellent relationships with acclaimed directors like David Dhawan, Priyadarshan, Rohit Shetty, Abbas-Mastan, and Imtiyaz Punjabi. It has signed actors like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Sushmita Sen, Katrina Kaif and Karina Kapoor among others. With releases like Golmal - Fun Unlimited, Funtoosh and the blockbuster Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, the company has its focus on film production with new projects like Jab We Met, Chala Murari Murder Karne and Super Star.
Home productions as well as films made by other production houses are distributed mainly in the Bombay Territory. The company has released films like Main Hoon Na, Paheli, and has new releases like Partner, Heyy Baby, Om Shanti Om, Fool-N-Final and The Train. It is expanding its business both geographically and vertically by acquiring world territorial, satellite and electronic rights and selling them to various channels.
Lease agreements are in place with 31 theaters in Mumbai and several others in the pipeline for exhibition of movies. In July 2007, the company entered the South Indian production business with Chakkara Viyugam. As part of its expansion plans, the company is to invest in production equipment to reduce costs and dependency.
