3M India (3MINDIA), a subsidiary of Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (USA), is a diversified technology company. It was established in 1988 as Birla 3M and the name was subsequently changed to 3M India in December 2002.
The company has over 2,000 diverse products and 40-plus core technologies and leadership in major markets. It offers products in areas like displays and graphics including flat-panel computer monitors, cellular phones, PDAs, and LCD televisions; solutions in electronics, electrical, communications, healthcare, manufacturing and other industries; office stationary products like pads, flags, and post-it products; safety solutions; and high-quality abrasives, tapes, films, adhesives, and specialty materials for the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of autos, boats, aircraft and other vehicles. The company has well known brands like Scotch, Post-it, Scotch-Brite, Scotchgard, Vikuiti, Command, Nexcare, Thinsulate and Filtrete.
The manufacturing facilities of the company are located in Bangalore and Ahmedabad. It is investing approximately INR 500 million to set up a new manufacturing facility at the Pune MIDC, Maharashtra. The company has acquired the business of Autostriping India which develops and produces graphics for two wheelers. It plans to support product application development and localize products in areas of corrosion protection, automotive aftermarkets, abrasives, plastic and rubber processing polymers. The 3M technology solutions find wide use in markets that include aerospace, railways, highways, oil and gas, defense, security, mining, health, marine and telecom.

Financials
The company announced fall of 21.84% in standalone net profit on y-o-y basis to Rs 161.32 million, while total income climbed 21.36% y-o-y basis to Rs 2.78 billion for the quarter ended December 2010.
