Godfrey Phillips India (GODFRYPHLP) is engaged in manufacturing and marketing cigarettes and cigars. The company was incorporated in India in 1936. The major stake holders are the K.K. Modi group and Philip Morris. The company produces cigarettes at its two manufacturing facilities located in Ghaziabad (near Delhi) and Andheri (Mumbai). It has brands like Red and White, Four Square, Jaisalmer, Cavanders, Tipper, North Pole and Prince. It enjoys a leadership position in the cigar market with exclusive distribution rights for Altadis, the world`s largest cigar manufacturer and for Oettinger Davidoff group`s range of cigars, which includes the recently launched Davidoff cigars in India. The company products are distributed through an extensive network comprising 484 exclusive distributors and over 800,000 retail outlets throughout India. The company has a state of-the-art R&D unit in Mumbai, which is recognized by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It employs global productivity and quality procedures such as Haichi-Ban, 5S, Kaizen Teian & TQM. Both factories are ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14000 certified. Subsidiaries include International Tobacco Company, Chase Investments, City Leasing and Finance Company, Manhattan Credit and Finance, Kashyap Metal and Allied Industries, and Unique Space Developers. The export division reaches Phillips Morris, Altadis, JTA, Tabak Natie, Gallahers Eastern Co., European Tobacco, Swedish Match and Trailfracht with brands like Force 10, Jaisalmer, Originals, Blue and Gold, Piper and Tipper. It takes up contract manufacturing, specializing in Virginia and US blends. The company exports tobacco to UK, Italy, Singapore, Germany and France. The registered office of the company is at Chakala, Andheri (E), Mumbai-400099.
