Incorporated in 1992, Gujarat Pipavav Port (GPPL), promoted by APM Terminals is one of the largest container terminal operators in the world and is part of the Denmark-based AP Moeller Maersk Group. APM Terminals Pipavav is one of the principal gateways on the west coast of India and is located in the Saurashtra region of the state of Gujarat. It provides port handling and marine services to container cargo, bulk cargo, and LPG cargo. Alongside, the company also handles a variety of dry bulk and break bulk cargo such as coal, cement, clinker, gypsum, fertilisers, steel, steel scrap, iron ore, agricultural products, salt and soda ash.
