Himadri Chemicals and Industries Limited Company Profile

Himadri Chemicals & Industries (HIMCI), the flagship company of the Himadri group of industries, develops, manufactures and markets chemical products, with a focus on coal tar and its derivatives. It was incorporated as a private limited company on Jul. 28, 1987 and converted into a public limited company on Nov. 27, 1991. The ISO 9000:2002 certified company offers coal tar distillation products like coal tar pitch, naphthalene, and oils, corrosion protection products like Himcoat Enamal, Himcoat Primer-B, Himtape, and Himwrap; and coal tar based pipe-coating products including primer, outerwraps and tapes. Two manufacturing plants are located in Howrah, West Bengal, one in Hoogly, West Bengal and one in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh with a combined coal tar distillation capacity of 438,000 MTPA. As part of its expansion program in FY07, the company is setting up a forward integration plant for manufacturing advanced carbon materials at the existing plant in Mahistikry. The plant is expected to be completed by 2007. The company is in the process of entering into a joint venture for the acquisition of an existing coal tar distillation plant in China. To further expand its global operations, it has invested in a 100% wholly-owned subsidiary in Hong Kong. The company has a raw material storage capacity of around 40,000 MT. It has long-term tie-ups with all major leading Indian steel plants and international suppliers for the supply of coal tar. The coat tar pitch forms the basic raw material for aluminum and graphite electrode manufacturers. The registered office of the company is located at 23A, Netaji Subhas Road, 8th Floor, Room No 15, Kolkata-700001, West Bengal.
