SMS Pharmaceuticals (SMSPHARMA) is engaged in the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and pharmaceutical intermediates. It was incorporated on Dec. 14, 1987, converted into a public limited company on Nov. 02, 1994. Earlier known as S.M.S. Pharmaceuticals, it got its present name on Apr. 12, 2004. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company operates through its segments of APIs and intermediates, contract manufacturing and contract research, and nurtraceuticals and bio products. It manufactures APIs like ranitidine HCL, sumatriptan base, imatinib mesylate, etc; intermediates of zolmitriptan, sildenafil, aripiprazole, etc; bioproducts including solanesol, and diosgenin; inorganic products like iron III acetyl acetonates, zinc II acetylacetonate, etc; nutraceuticals like Fenudiet, and Hearty Salt; and products in scaleup including rizatriptan benzoate and bicalutamide. SMS Pharmaceuticals has four manufacturing facilities in and around Hyderabad, which are fully compliant with cGMP and WHO standards. It has set up a world class, state-of-the-art global research & development (R&D) center in Hyderabad. The company has filed 18 process patents. It has agreements with facilities of Spec, Netherlands for the development, preparation and supply of custom molecules; IICT- Hyderabad, and IIT- Guwahati for the exclusive technology development of intermediates and metal acetylacetonates; a supply agreement with Ranbaxy; developmental works agreement with Sochnaz; and with Beximco, a company based in Bangladesh, for the purpose of setting up an API manufacturing facility at Beximco`s premises. The prestigious Indo-US GCNC Award was conferred on the company in January 2008 in recognition of its adoption of Green Chemistry mandates in the industry. The company supplies to pharma majors like Ranbaxy, Cadila Pharma, Torrent Pharma, Zydus Cadila, Dr. Reddy`s, Dabur India and Sun Pharmaceuticals and has operations spread across Europe, erstwhile Soviet countries, Latin America, and the Far and Middle East. The registered office of the company is located at 417, Nilgiri, Aditya Enclave, Ameerpet, Hyderabad-500038, Andhra Pradesh.
