20 Microns is one of India`s largest producers of white minerals converted into high-performance materials such as functional fillers, specialty chemicals and extenders. It was incorporated as a private limited company on Jun. 29, 1987 and converted into a public limited company with effect from Jan. 17, 1994. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company has an annual turnover of over 145,000 tons of white minerals obtained from plants and deposits spanning different regions of the country offering micronized minerals like natural calcium carbonate, china clay/ kaolin, talc, dolomite, silica, mica, iron oxide and barites; specialized chemicals such as impact modifiers, thickening agents, functional fillers and extenders. These products cater to various industrial segments such as paints, plastics, surface coating, paper, food, pharmaceuticals, putty, sealants, rubber, cosmetics, explosives ceramic, reinforced polyester glass fiber and other areas. Four different captive mines and eight manufacturing locations spanning across the country have a total mineral reserve of 6 million metric tons. Manufacturing units are located at Vadadala, and Bhuj in Gujarat; Hosur and Thirunelvelli in Tamil Nadu; Swaroopganj, Alwar and Chota Udepur in Rajasthan. The engineering division located at Waghodia in Gujarat manufactures plants and equipment for processing industrial minerals, ores and recovery of secondary raw materials from waste generated from processing minerals. The company has a state-of-the-art research center fully arrayed with modern testing and analytical equipment. Currently, about 70 international customers based in 30 countries utilize 450 product grades which are in addition to approximately 700 local customers spread across India. Some of them include Berger Paints India, ICI India, Asian Paints, Goodlass Nerolac, Plastiblend India, Pidilite Industries, Kandui Fillerteknik, Finolex Cable, Akzo Nobel Coatings and Shriram Polytech.
