Jay Shree Tea & Industries (JAYSHREETEA), part of the B.K. Birla group of industries, is a well diversified conglomerate with businesses in tea, chemicals, fertilizers and real estate. The company was incorporated on Oct. 27, 1945. The company has 19 tea estates including two estates with its subsidiary spread over in Darjeeling, Dooars, Terai , Assam and South India. It manufactured 20.2 million Kg of tea in 2006. The total area under tea is around 8,000 Hectares. The company produces around 10% of total Darjeeling teas produced in the country. It markets its tea under the brand names of Birla Tea, Sadabahar, Shandaar, Kalline Gold, Golden Caddy, Everest, Kanchenjunga and Jaandaar. Most of the tea estates of the company are ISO 9002 certified. Besides tea, Jay Shree Tea & Industries manufactures single super phosphate (81.76 MT in 2006) and sulphuric acid (86.68 MT in 2006) in its chemical plants in Khardah in North 24-Parganas, West Bengal and Pataudi in Gurgaon district, Haryana. The company is also engaged in warehousing activities in Calcutta and Kochi. Its real estate division has developed commercial complexes and residential apartments in Calcutta and Bangalore. It is in the process of developing residential complexes in the heart of Calcutta through its subsidiary Shiva`s Group. The company has a niche market in India and in countries like Germany, Japan, U.K, Middle East and the CIS. The registered office of the company is located at Industry House (15th Floor) 10, Camac Street, Kolkata-700017, West Bengal.
