Jyothy Laboratories is a fast moving consumer goods company engaged in manufacturing and marketing fabric care products, mosquito repellents and Ayurvedic and herbal products. It was incorporated as a private limited company on January 15, 1992 and got its current name on August 12, 1996. The company operates through its various business divisions of fabric care, household insecticide, utensil cleaners, fragrances, personal care, and allied business. The company offer fabric care products like Ujala Supreme Fabric Whitener, Ujala Washing Powder, and Ujala Stiff & Shine; the Maxo mosquito repellents as coils and vaporizers; the Exo brand of dish wash bars and liquids; the Maya range of incense sticks fragrance; and Jeeva Naturals, a range of soaps that uses coconut milk and other natural ingredients. The company`s joint ventures distribute branded products, coffee, dhoops and tea. It has entered into a joint venture agreement in Bangladesh to manufacture and market Ujala and Maxo and has an agreement with Godrej Tea to distribute tea in India. The 21 manufacturing units are located in 14 locations across India, eight of which are tax efficient units. The company is setting up new manufacturing facilities in Uttaranchal, Jammu and Guwahati. It has an in-house engineering research and development and machinery manufacturing facility in Pondicherry. Sri Sai Home Care Products is a wholly-owned subsidiary and Balaji Telebrands, a joint venture company. As on March 31, 2007, the Ujala fabric whitener enjoyed a 37% market share, Maxo mosquito repellent coils 20.5%, and Exo dishwash bar 17% market share. The company has a distribution network across India with approximately 2,500 distributors and direct reach to approximately one million retail outlets. The registered and corporate office is located at 43, Shivshakti Industrial Estate, Andheri-Kurla Road, Marol, Mumbai-400059.
