Manappuram General Finance & Leasing (MANAPPG), incorporated on Jul. 15, 1992, is a non-banking financial company (NBFC). It is part of the Manappuram group, which has seven companies under its fold with 500 branches spread over Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Haryana and Punjab. The group offers its customer base, in excess of one million, a wide range of activities ranging from financial services to computer technology. Manappuram Benefit Fund, Manappuram Insurance Agents & Brokers, Manappuram Chits India, Manappuram Competch & Consultants, and Manappuram Finance (Tamil Nadu) are other group companies.
Fund-based and fee-based services are offered by the company including security loans, gold loans, personal loans, instant money transfers, foreign exchange, bonds, non-convertible debentures, life insurance, general insurance, hire purchase and leasing schemes. It issues fully secured redeemable non convertible debentures of Rs 1,000 each and unsecured bonds in the nature of promissory notes on private placement basis. Manappuram Insurance Brokers, a 100% subsidiary, has an insurance broking licence from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) and offers products of various insurance companies to its customers.
Reserve Bank granted the prestigious Authorized Dealer Category II licence in 2006-2007, enabling the company to undertake a wide range of non trade remittances apart from currency exchange transactions. Recently, it signed an agreement with Hudson Equity Holdings and Sequoia Capital India Investment Holdings for a preferential issue of compulsorily convertible preferential shares to be converted into equity shares later. The branch network has rapidly increased to more than 280 across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
