Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited Company Profile

Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF) was incorporated in 1978 with the reorganisation of the erstwhile Fertiliser Corporation of India. It manufactures and markets a range of chemical fertilisers and a series of industrial chemicals. RCF has set up purge gas recovery units to recover ammonia, hydrogen, methane and argon from the purge gas coming out of the ammonia plants at Trombay and Thal. It has four urea fertiliser plants, two complex fertiliser plants, four ammonia plants and industrial product plants consisting of heavy water, methyl alchohol, methylamines, nitric acid, sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, ammonium bicarbonate, sodium nitrate, sodium nitrite, dimethyl formamide and dimethyl acetamide. The company produces around 2.4 million tpa of fertilizers achieving a capacity utilisation of around 88% annually. For complex fertilizers the plants produced to the extent of 86.69 per cent. RCF`s manufacturing units have the advantage of proximity to major seaports, as the raw materials for manufacturing the fertilizers are imported. An expansion project was taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 290 million to increase the production capacity of its methylamine plant at Thal to produce an additional 6,400 MTPA. The company plans to upgrade its facilities to meet the growing demand of methylamines in the domestic market. The company is in talks with the gas suppliers to ensure that feedstock is available as per requirement. It has entered into arrangements with other corporates, agencies and authorities to make the products available, besides tying up with companies for distributing the products through their channels in rural markets.
