Zenith Birla (India) (ZENITH), incorporated on Aug. 5, 1960, is engaged in the manufacture of high frequency induction welding (HFIW) steel pipes and high speed steel (HSS) cutting tools. Earlier known as Zenith, it got its present name on Oct. 18, 2005. The company is part of the Yash Birla group, which has diversified interest in industries like steel pipes, machine tools, cutting tools, iron castings, tool holders, power solution products, multipurpose engines pumps, textiles, carpets, furnishing, electrical appliances, lifestyle, infotech, publication, travel, electricity, cotton ginning, property development, and other areas. The major companies in the group include Birla Power Solutions, Birla Cotsyn (India), Dagger Forst Tools, Birla Precision Technologies, Birla Transasia Carpets, Birla Perucchini, Birla Lifestyle, Birla Electricals, Birla Concepts (India), and Shloka Infotech. The company specializes in a wide range of black and galvanized pipes which find application in water and gas line pipes, structural pipes, conveyor idlers, bore well casing, scaffolding tubes, electric poles, telecommunications, conduits, precision tubes, and automobile chassis. High quality HSS tools manufactured include center drills, masonry drills, milling cutters, tapes, jobbers, reamers, and tool bits. The manufacturing facilities are located at Khopoli, Tarapur, Nasik, Aurangabad and Khamgaon in Maharastha with installed capacities of 120,000 MT of pipes, 19,067,000 drills, 580,000 taps, 175,600 reamers, 126,400 cutters, and 422,300 tool bits. Overseas partners include major players like the Yamaha Motor Company from Japan; Germany-based Oswald Forst GmbH, Klingelberg Sohne and Besmer; Italy-based Samputensili and Fonderia Peruchinni Spa; and Kennametal Inc. of USA. The company has won a number of awards for its export performance and almost 40 % of its total production is exported to 63 countries across the globe including USA and the Middle East. Zenith (USA) Inc., Khamgaon Syntex (India) and Zenith Middle East FZE are subsidiary companies. The registered office is located at 1st Floor, Dalamal House, Nariman Point, Mumbai - 400021. Financials The company disclosed fall of 4.37% in standalone net profit on y-o-y basis to Rs 43.80 million, while total income fell 9.89% y-o-y basis to Rs 1.38 billion for the quarter ended December 2010.
