State Bank of Travancore (SBT) an associate bank of the State Bank Group came into existence in 1945 as Travancore Bank after being floated by the state of Travancore. SBT was transformed into a subsidiary of State Bank of India in 1959. State Bank of Travancore is a nationalised bank in India.
Headquartered at Trivandrum, Kerala, it has a network of more than 686 branches spanning 14 states of India. 556 branches are in Kerala and the bank enjoys a share in excess of 20% of the total banking business.
SBT offers a bouquet of credit services. Core sectors to which the services of the bank extends are corporate Services, industrial and trade finance services, NRI services, forex and remittance services, special services and internet and mobile banking services. SBT has range of lending products starting from cash key facility, gold loans, loans against scrips to the conventional personal Loan. It has also implemented core banking in 2005.
SBT focuses on rendering all forms of credit assistance to small scale industries, agricultural sector and small business enterprises through variety of lending products. More than 40% of its advances are directed towards priority sectors. It has installed agricultural development branches to cater to the need of the farmers. Side by side there has been a Kisan Credit Card Scheme for the same purpose. GOLD CARD Scheme has been developed for exporters.
