Voltas (VOLTAS), a Tata group enterprise, offers engineering solutions with a focus on industrial equipment and air conditioning. It was incorporated on Sept. 6, 1954. The company has its four independent business segments of electro-mechanical projects and services, including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical and HVAC solutions (international), and water management and treatment; unitary cooling products including cooling appliances and commercial refrigeration; engineering products and services like textile machinery, mining and construction equipment, machine tools, and material handling solutions; and others includes chemicals trading. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company has successfully and executed turnkey projects in Asia, CIS countries and Africa. Recent and upcoming projects include the Movenpick Deira Hotel and Center Residence in Dubai, Bahrain City Centre, Dubai`s Burj Tower, Galleria Mall in Navi Mumbai, Villaggio Mall in Qatar, Fortis Hospital in New Delhi, Etihad Tower in Abu Dhabi, and TCS IT Park near Chennai. Indian subsidiaries include Simto Investment Company, Auto Aircon India, Agro Foods Punjab, and Westerwork Engineers and foreign subsidiaries include Metrovol FZE (UAE), VIL Overseas Enterprises B.V. (Netherlands), Voice Antilles N.V. (Netherlands Antilles), and Weathermake (Isle of Man). The international electro-mechanical business won three awards in FY07 for excellent export performance under various category criteria from Project Export Promotion Council of India. It has a strong presence in Singapore, the Middle East, USA, Europe and China for its various products and services. Voltas has distribution and service tie-ups with RBS Home Appliances and TCM Corporation, Japan (for forklift trucks).
