OCL India Limited Company Profile

OCL India (OCL), incorporated on Oct. 11, 1949 as a public limited company, is engaged in the manufacture of cement and refractories. Previously known as Orissa Cement, it got its present name on Jan. 23, 1996. The company is part of the J.D. Dalmia Group which also includes OCL Iron and Steel, Landmark Property Development Company, and Dalmia Cement (Bharat). The ISO 9001 certified refractory division has one of the largest refractory plants in the country set up initial technical know how from Dr. C.Otto and Co, Germany and later with T.Y.K Corporation of Japan and Pilibrico Gmbh, Luxembourg. It produces a wide spectrum of high quality silica refractories for coke ovens, high temperature blast furnace stoves and glass industries; high alumina refractories for blast furnace stoves; basic refractories; magnesia carbon bricks; continuous casting refractories; new generation high performance castables and precast blocks for different applications; and purging refractories. A separate cement division produces Portland cement, Portland slag cement, Portland Pozzolana cement, suphate resisting Portland cement, and oil well cement. Located in the Sundargarh district of Orissa, the manufacturing units have a total installed capacity of 80,000 MTPA refractories and cement production has been enhance with the commissioning of a cement-grinding unit at Kapilas Cement Works, near Cuttack. Besides a production capacity of 2 million MTPA, an additional capacity of 0.9 million MTPA has been set up in FY08. Recent awards in FY08 include Silver Medal for Utpadan, the quality circle of the cement division in the International convention of Quality circle held at Beijing in China; and Golden Trophy and Gold medal in International Chapter Quality Circle (ICQC) held at Indonesia for the Quality Circles Kamyab. In the non-ferrous sector, glass industries from domestic and international consumers procure company products. The company had entered into a memorandum of understanding with Steel Authority of India for supply of substantial quantities of refractories. Other customers include Bokaro Steel Plant. Major export destinations include Brazil, UK, USA, Australia, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, South Korea, Italy, Bangladesh and Nepal. The registered office is at Rajgangpur, Sundargarh-770017, Orissa.
