Prism Cement Limited (PCL) was incorporated in 1992 in the name of Karan Cement Ltd. The original promoters were B.V. Raju and his associates. Later, the company was taken over by Rajan Raheja, a real estate developer. The company`s name changed to PCL in 1994. The company has two more promoters - F.L.Smith, Denmark, one of the world`s leading cement machinery manufacturers, and the Industrialization Fund for Developing Countries, Denmark. The company has 2 million tpa cement plant at Satna, Madhya Pradesh. One of the main promoters for Satna project, F L Smith & Company, Denmark, is a world leader in two key aspects of the cement industry, development of technology and manufacture of machinery. The Satna plant of the company is equipped with latest technology and has special features like a six-stage low-pressure drop pre-heater, bucket elevators for silo and kiln feeding, roller presses for cement grinding and electronic packers for cement. The company caters to the markets of MP, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Moreover, PCL has installed 6 DG sets with a total capacity of 31 MW, which is sufficient to meet the company`s entire power requirement. The company markets its products under the brand name of Champion. It has a large retail network which helps it to improve margins.
