Advanta India (ADVANTA) formerly known as ITC Zeneca, was incorporated in 1994 as a public company. The company is one of the leading international companies in the business of manufacturing agronomic seeds. Operating mainly in India, Australia, Thailand and Argentina, ADVANTA is a global leader in technical plant breeding and in the application of biotechnology to develop new hybrids and varieties of crops and vegetable seed products including, sorghum, canola, sunflower, corn, hybrid rice and hybrid mustard. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Phosphorus, an Indian company in the agrochemical business. The company is based in Secunderabad, India. The company?s operating subsidiaries are Pacific Seeds operating in Australia, Pacific Seeds (Thai) in Thailand and Advanta Semillas SAIC in Argentina. The international division of Pacific Seeds Australia also has an export business. In India, ADVANTA manufactures special products such as, sunflower with high oleic content/confectionary types, baby corn (PAC 793), sweet corn, canola (Hyola 401), sweet sorghum (sugar graze) and bajra (PAC 892). The portfolio of Pacific Seeds Australia includes, grains sorghum (MR Buster, MR-43), forage sorghum (Jumbo, Sugar graze), maize (Hycorn 424, Hycorn 675IT), sunflower (Hysun 33, Hyoleic 41), canola (Thunder TT, Hyola 75) and oats (Drover, Taipan). Pacific Seeds Thailand`s main products include sweet corn (Hibrix3), baby corn (PAC 283), grain sorghum (PAC 99), sunflower (PAC 33) and forage Sorghum (Jumbo, Sweet Jumbo). While, Advanta Argentina is in to producing high-quality sunflower products under the VDH, Aguar and Olisun brands. Another of ADVANTA`s initiative is advantageindia.com, an internet portal aimed at empowering Indian farmers and to all those who are interested in Indian agriculture, with easy and free access to information and knowledge on latest agricultural technology. ADVANTA entered the capital market with an initial public issue of 3,380,000 equity shares of Rs 10. The price band was fixed between Rs 600 and 650 per share. The issue opened on Mar. 26, 2007 and closed on Mar. 30, 2007. The object of this issue is to invest in the subsidiary, Advanta Holding BV. Financials The company announced fall of 93.57% in consolidated net profit on y-o-y basis to Rs 34.57 million, while total income climbed 13.14% y-o-y basis to Rs 1.83 billion for the quarter ended March 2011.
