Havells India (HAVELL) is an electrical and power distribution equipment company. The company was incorporated as a private sector on Aug. 8, 1983 and got its current name on March 31, 1992. The Company was formed by Qimat Rai Gupta and Surjit Kumar Gupta. The company operates in the three main business segments of switchgear, cables and wires, and electrical consumer durables. It manufactures products like building circuit protection, industrial and domestic switchgear, energy meters, cables and wires, fans, CFL lamps, luminaries and modular switches. Manufacturing facilities are located in Haridwar, Uttaranchal (fans and CFLs); Baddi, Himanchal Pradesh (MCBs, CFLs and switches); Samepur Badli, Delhi (MCBs, ELCBs and DBs); Tilak Nagar, Delhi (energy meters); NOIDA, UP (fans); Alwar, Rajasthan (cables and wires); Faridabad, Haryana (CFLs and industrial products); and Gurgaon, Haryana (luminaires and lighting fixtures). The new power capacitors unit (NOIDA) has an installed capacity of 600,000 KVAR per month. An electric motors unit is also being set up. With 94 branches and around 8000 professionals spread over 50 countries across the globe, the company has achieved huge success in the past few years. Its 18 state of the art manufacturing plants spread over India, Europe, Latin America & Africa manufactures globally acclaimed products like switchgear, luminaries, CFLS and many more. In April 2007, the company acquired the SLI Sylvania business by acquiring 100% shares of SLI Lighting Products, Inc.; SLI Europe BV; and Lighthouse Investment Holdings through its subsidiaries based in Isle of Man, Malta and Netherlands. This acquisition now gives Havells a global presence in over 40 countries in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Subsidiaries include Havells Cyprus, Cyprus; Havells Holding, Isle of Man; Havells Malta, Malta; Havells Netherlands Holding B.V., the Netherlands; and Havells Netherlands B.V., the Netherlands. The company has access to global brands like Crabtree, Sylvania, Concord:martin, Lumiance, Claude, Sylvania:Linolite, SLI Lighting and Zenith. It exports to Russia, Romania, Latin America, and Australia and has offices in Dubai, Colombo and Lagos. The company has acquired a number of International certifications, like CSA, KEMA, CB, CE, ASTA, CPA, SEMKO, SIRIUM( Malaysia), SPRING (Singapore), TSE (Turkey), SNI (Indonesia) and EDD (Bahrain) for its various products. The registered office of the company is at New Delhi.
