Shoppers Stop (SHOPERSTOP) is primarily engaged in the business of retail trade through retail and departmental store facilities. It was incorporated as a private limited company on June 16, 1997, converted into a public limited company on Oct. 06, 2003, and went public on Apr. 27, 2005. Nuance Group (India), Hypercity, and Time Zone are other group companies. A chain of department stores across various formats retail apparel, accessories, perfumes, books, music, home products, and other products. The company uses the brands Shopper`s Stop, Home Stop, Crossword, Mothercare and Cafes & Restaurants with innovative loyalty memberships and gift vouchers including Shopper`s Stop First Citizen and Crossword Book Rewards. By the end of 2008, it had 26 Shopper`s Stop, 54 Crossword, and 6 MAC stores, and launched its Mothercare, Brio, and HomeStop stores. The only retailer from India to become a member of the prestigious Intercontinental Group of Departmental Stores, the company has been conferred various awards and recognitions during the year including Retail Destination of the Year at the Image Fashion Forum, Most Admired Retailer of the Year for technology applications at Image Retail Award - 2007, Advertisement Campaign of the year CMAI APEX Awards, and Departmental Store of the year at Star Retailer Award. In its endeavor to attract more customers, its has launched an array of formats including Arcelia, a concept retailing high-end cosmetics and other products for women, combining the offering of shopping plus entertainment with regular spas and make-over sessions. Nuance Group (India), a 50:50 joint venture with The Nuance Group AG, has opened four outlets at Hyderabad international Airport. Gateway Multichannel Retail (India), a 51:49 joint venture between Shopper`s Stop and Hypercity Retail (India), is to operate stores with services from Home Retail Group (India), a wholly-owned company of Home Retail Group plc, and use trademarks of Argos and Hypercity. The associate Hypercity offers foods, home entertainment, hi-tech, appliances, furniture, and other products under exclusive agreements with Waitrose (UK) and Raleigh Cycles (India). Timezone, a 50:50 joint venture with the promoter group and LAI (Australia), offers a range of interactive games through it six gaming centers. Subsidiaries include Crossword Bookstores, Upasna Trading, Shoppers Stop.Com (India), Shopper's Stop Services (India), and Gateway Multichannel Retail (India).
